Default Etymology of the world \"Tool\"

My fellow 2+2ers...

I have to confess, when you call each other (or others) a "tool" I have absolutely no idea what you mean by this. Obviously, I'm able to infer that "tool" is some kind of insult, but why call somebody a tool? Why not call them a bozo or a "moran?" When did we start calling each other tools? I personally have always felt that Tool is an excellent band, perhaps not as good as A Perfect Circle, but...

If someone could kindly fill me in, I would appreciate it greatly.

The etymology of the insult "tool" involves the word's use as a synonym for donk.

Really? I've always thought that "tool" could be used for so much more than to simply state that someone is bad at poker. I've frequently seen people on this board call somebody that they don't like a "tool." And does anyone know why people started saying it on this forum?

Haha, great picture, but after looking at your avatar and your location ("F*cking the Dodgers") I can only say one thing to you: You sir, are a tool.

I'm not talking about poker. I meant donk as a synonym for dong.
