Do you ever make plays for these tiny pots?
PokerStars 2/4 Hold'em (8 handed) converter
Is it worth it betting hands like these? I probably should have bet this turn, yay or nay? Preflop: Hero is BB with 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. 5 folds, Button calls, SB completes, Hero checks. Flop: (3 SB) 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 players) SB checks, Hero checks, Button checks. Turn: (1.50 BB) Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (3 players) SB checks, Hero ? *This may be the lamest hand post ever? |

I do on occasion, and often when I do, even when I win the pot, I regret it and second-guess myself.

I might bet the flop and try to steal it.

Re: Do you ever make plays for these tiny pots?
I think a bet here is good for a few reasons.
1. You have a made hand, no matter how crappy. 2. You have a flush draw, no matter how crappy. 3. You have fold equity, as they might think you have a Q you were scared to bet on the flop but now have trips. But it's definitely less risky to just check. |

Re: Do you ever make plays for these tiny pots?
I don't mind a bet here but I'm sure it could go either way. And this is certainly not the lamest hand post ever. I am truly interested in what other people have to say about this. There are so many posts that deal with "KK w/ an A on flop", "I flopped quads, did I miss any bets", and posts like that, that I look forward to hands like these. Marginal holdings like this come up more often in my experience than the above situations and I think there is more value to be gained by playing these types of hands correctly.
After all of that, I have no idea what the correct play is.... |

Re: Do you ever make plays for these tiny pots?
Clearly, nobody's really enthused about their hand (Button open-limped! I think a kitten died.) You have a baby flush draw, and bottom pair. I think it's worth firing 1 sb on the flop and see if you can take it down right there. That flop looks pretty scary to someone without a heart in their hand. Even if they made a pair, they know there's a good chance they won't be good by the river. (And they don't know you don't already have a flush.)
I certainly don't think any of these streets are a mandatory bet. But about 1 out of 2 times I'm leading one bet out at the flop. |
