Default Right to Bare Arms

I have seen that in NO they are no confiscating all guns. Legally owned or not. I understand why they think this is a good idea, but are we just pitching out the 2nd amendment because it suits the needs right now?

If martial law has in fact been declared then they can possibly get away with it legally, since habeus corpus can also be suspended during martial law, although it has to be explicitly stated to be so.

Thank you, I was trying to figure out if there was some decleration that would allow rights to be suspended temporarily.

Isn't it kind of hot down there to make everyone wear long sleeve shirts?

Martial law is illegal in the state of Louisiana from what I understand. Confiscating our guns is a travesty.

Government officials have proved time and time again they are inept at protecting the citizenry. Now they want to strip us of the ability to protect ourselves? Smells like tyrrany.

I would have gone with "beer," but that's just me.

Default Right to Arm Bears

I think we need to be more concerned about the right to arm bears. I look at it this way.

Unarmed bear vs. unarmed human: The bear has a huge advantage.

Unarmed bear vs. armed human. The human has the advantage, although not quite as much as you might think, especially if the human has a small caliber handgun. In that case, the human's best use of the gun is to fire it into the air and hope the noise scares the bear off. Shooting the bear is likey to just hurt it bad enough to get it really pissed off, and even if the human does manage to mortally wound the bear, the bear will likely kill the human before it dies.

Armed bear vs. armed human puts things on a pretty equal footing, assuming of cousrse, that bears can lean to shoot. In the interest of fairness, this is the ideal we should strive for.
