Top pair with weak kicker - should I play more aggressively?
I hate playing with a weak kicker, but I think I should probably put in a re-raise here on the flop. No reads. Any thoughts?

Re: Top pair with weak kicker - should I play more aggressively?
This seems an ok place for a call-down. There don't appear to be many draws possible so you are either ahead of villains weaker Q or pair, or behind to villains bigger kicker or 2P. I think a call is in order in this situation.

Re: Top pair with weak kicker - should I play more aggressively?
I've previously been 3-betting this flop, and I really don't like it. It forces me to make a tough decision on the turn and costs me almost the same amount as it would to see a showdown. To be honest, I think this line is perfectly fine.

Re: Top pair with weak kicker - should I play more aggressively?
I would checkraise this flop. You don't mind the button calling one on the flop since he has only 1 overcard at most. Your play drives out the button when you could extract an extra bet. Plus, if the button calls and you checkraise then you can get away from your hand if UTG continues pounding because he is unlikely to show more aggression in a protected pot.

Re: Top pair with weak kicker - should I play more aggressively?
Having raised UTG, I can't believe villain has two pair on the flop.
I took the conservative approach in the hand itself, but afterwards I was thinking that plenty of players would raise on the flop with AK, 10,10, 9,9 or even 8,8, making a raise justifiable. |
