Default PartyPoker.com commercial on WPT

Well, did you guys see the commercial? I think this is a big step for online poker. Even though the Aruba tournament and the partypoker million tournament was sort of like a commercial, I was surprised to see a an actual real commercial (I had assumed that it was illegal).

I hope this doesn't bring the house down on online poker by attracting unwanted government attention. I presume it is still illegal to play so I don't see how Travel Channel can get away with running that ad. Unless they naively pretend that they are only advertising the play money aspect of it.

Yeah right.

The legaility of playing online poker is definately not settled. There is no statute that prohibits it - specifically - only some that could be possibly interpreted to prevent it.

I'm 99.9% sure that the party poker commercial's never said a word about playing for REAL money online. It was more directed towards "Having fun with my friends, etc". I don't think this was an accident.

Also, did anyone else think of Granny Mae when seeing the little old lady in the first commercial? (I just hope they paid her well, love ya Granny )

Also, anyone who has ever watched boxing has seen goldenpalace.com written all over the boxers. There have also been commercials for internet gambling sites on radio shows like Howard Stern if I remember right which certainly has more listeners than the Travel Channel has viewers.

That was NOT Granny, she is much sexier than that! Also, what is the difference between running that ad on TV and the ads that run in Cardplayer every issue?

Default this is why

In nevada for example, online gambling is perfectly legal. It is a state law thing. The laws are different in every state and some states don't have specific laws outlawing online gambling. Just because some particular thing might be banned in some states, it can't be illegal to broadcast it nationally.

Default They all advertise in magazines like cardplayer

I see little substantive difference, though maybe that is illegal too.
