A Rare Ace Hi Call Down for Me
Notes on main villian are that he likes to bluff a LOT, donks a ton, and plays something like 60/7 over 200 hands. Second villian didn't get out of line to much postflop.
I raise pf to isolate the bad player. I don't like the BB coming along Party Poker 5/10 Hold'em (6 max, 6 handed) converter Preflop: Scags is Button with 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. UTG calls, 2 folds, Scags raises, 1 fold, BB calls, UTG calls. I call here on the flop bc think I am still ahead. Flop: (6.40 SB) 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (3 players) BB checks, UTG bets, Scags calls, BB calls. I raise to isolate the bluffer and knock out the player who I'm sure has me beat. Turn: (4.70 BB) 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (3 players) BB checks, UTG bets, Scags raises, BB folds, UTG calls. Nothing has changed. I think this is just one last effort to knock me off of the pot, so I call down. River: (8.70 BB) Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players) UTG bets, Scags calls. Final Pot: 10.70 BB Results in white below: UTG has 3d Ks (one pair, queens). Scags has 8c Ah (one pair, queens). Outcome: Scags wins 10.70 BB. Is this play terrible? |

Is this play terrible? [/ QUOTE ] No. Picking up the gutshot is a great opportunity to make this move, hopefully shake the player behind you and showdown your A against the bluffer. The extra outs give you an equity cushion that means plan A doesn't have to work as often. Once the first part of the plan works, it wouldn't make sense to fold the river. On a related note, if showing down A-high is a rare event for you, you should maybe be doing it more often. /mc |

Re: A Rare Ace Hi Call Down for Me
I guess it isn't such a rare event for me to show it down, its just rare that I call a bet with Ace high. I always have trouble calling bets with Ace high on the river.

Re: A Rare Ace Hi Call Down for Me
I would raise the flop instead of the turn to knock BB out, saving me 0.5BB if I'm wrong.
