Am I wrong to cap the river?
.5/1 at paradise
Play is terrible. Sometimes passive (players not even betting AA, KK preflop or their monster draws), and sometimes just stupid (people betting and capping with gutshots). Haven't played a lot of hands but I saw a looot of sukouts. I am in the BB with TT Folded around to the CO who raises. Possible steal attempt? I raise again and he calls. Flop is T99r Great. I lead, he calls. Turn is a J. I bet and he raises me. I 3 bet and he caps. River is a blank. Am I still betting and capping? Or am I slowing down against an unknown? |

Re: Am I wrong to cap the river?
I'm capping this river, me. He could be doing this with J9 (assuming a steal attempt), KQ, AJ, A9, maybe AT, QQ-AA, the only hands you have to fear are 99 and JJ.

Cap it. 99 is a possibility but no way in hell I give him credit for that. He would likely cap JJ pf against one player.
I put him on KQ and start licking my chops... |

Not at all. Nice hand. If he had JJ or 99, that sucks.

Re: Am I wrong to cap the river?
I think this is a reasonable list. It will clearly vary as some players wouldn't raise here with something like J9. For some you could add 87s hitting the straight on the turn.
Behind: JJ(3) 99(1) Ahead: AA(6) KK(6) QQ(6) KQ(16) A9(8) K9(8) Q9(8) T9(1) J9(6) I don't think you are up against JJ/99 often enough to not cap the river (and KQ is probably going full-tilt against you here). |

Re: Am I wrong to cap the river?
I'd discount them fairly heavily but even so it's still a definite cap.

:grunch:
Bet! You are only behind 99 and JJ. The two hands that stand out to me as most likely are JJ and KQ. There are 3 possible combinations of JJ, 1 combinations of 99 and 16 possible combinations of KQ. JJ should have raised this flop, so it seems even less likely that you are facing it. You win here about 75% of the time, more if he's aggressive enough to cap with weaker holdings. Get all the chips you can in the middle. Edit: Okay so my range of hands is too narrow, but it still show that you are ahead here a vast majority of the time. |

Grunch. Cap the river. Prepare cat for orbit in case he shows you 99 or JJ.
