I see no other way to play it, can't fear 56 or a flush in a heads up battle. Most likely he had a decent flush draw, maybe a pair to go along with it. Hopefully that river didn't kill you.

maybe betting the nut/2nd nut flush draw?...if thats true then he should have given up after your continual raises

I've always been skeptical of people on this board who argue that donk betting usually indicates weakness. But I decided to trust them on this hand, and this guy flipped over a pair of sevens. Seriously, how common is this kind of play (in party 3/6 6-max) ?

It's not THAT common, but there are people who have earned the "DB" note from me as continual donk betters. Many of them are very suseptible to the Raise, Bet line when they donk a pfr from the blinds. If you want to see rampant donk betting play the stars 2-4...
