How much, if anything, do you contribute to the cost of your health care. Is your contribution based on a percentage of the cost or a percentage of your salary? Do those who make more in the same company pay a higher percentage?

I pay 1/2 (maybe 1/3) of the cost. It has nothing to do with salary, it's the same cost for services regardless of how much you make.

Everyone who pays for health care pays for at least 100% of their health care -- regardless of how it's structured.

Employer organized (provided) Health Care costs come in many forms outside employee contributions.

1. Employee "contribution" (higher wages).
2. Employer contribution (lower wages).
3. More scrutiny of your suitability to be an "employee".

My employer pays for 100% of the employees coverage, and 75% of family coverage (we only have 2 options, employee or family).

The coverage and the cost is the same regardless of position or pay scale.

I pay $110 a month for a managed healthcare plan. I am not sure but I think that is about 1/2 the cost and my employer pays the rest. This coverage also includes dental (under a different provider, my dental may be 100% paid by my employer) and vision care.

On a side note, for comparison, when I was self-employed I paid about $188 a month for single healthcare coverage with $500 deductible through Blue Cross/Blue Shield [Non-smoking male over 50 years of age]. I managed to have that reduced to $165 a month by raising the deductible to $1,000 and eliminating two coverages from the health plan: mental illness and alcoholism. Being a stoic, I have no need of such coverage. The above plans also included prescription drug coverage were I would pay 25% of generic or 50% of name brand drugs. I had no dental insurance coverage when I was self-employed.

I pay nothing because I'm British and it's funded out of general taxation. If I was a pro poker player I'd really pay nothing because Poker winnings aren't taxed. So pro poker players- move to the UK for free healthcare!

I pay $21/month for medical and $6/month for Dental; my employer pays the rest.

My employer is the state government, so I have government-provided health care (through Pacificare) and it's very good [img]/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img]
