Yet Another AQ hand - Call this Check Raise?
This is a hand from tonite's 25k Guarantee on Stars. There are around 200 left at this point, I have been at this table for half an hour and my image is a bit LAGgy. Villain in this hand is, well, unconventional. He open pushed at one point for 17BB with QQ from EP - I called him with AhKh and made a consolation flush after he flopped a boat. He and I have been the two most active players at the table.
I knew that a check raise was probably coming on this hand. Call or fold? Re: Yet Another AQ hand - Call this Check Raise?
IMO, if you know a checkraise is coming on the flop, then doesn't that mean if your hand is strong you should call?
I think most of the time you are flipping here (he almost certainly didn't flop a flush) and with the massive overlay you must call. |

oooh, toughie. Sometimes you know you have the best hand but your opponent has too many outs (and is therefore a favorite) I'd fold and pick a better spot.

painful
the problem here is you have approximately zero outs if he is ahead. It *could* be a bare club... but it *could* be 2pr/set/made flush (less likely, but if he knows how to play his image correctly, he should play the flush this way) I'd suck it up and fold reluctantly. |

I've been in this situation quite a bit. Me and another lag battling it out. IMO he needs a king to play back at you. As far as playing the hand its push or fold. If you push I could see him calling you with a king if you've been lagging it up.

I'm not sure how you're considering folding here. You're against the only other active player at the table with TPTK on a draw heavy board and he check raises all in giving you 2-1 on your call. There are too many hands he can have that you beat.

Re: Results
I think for a bit and call. I'm expecting to see a worse Ace with a club, but to my horror he flips over AA for top set. I turn a Jack so have miracle outs, but the river blanks and IGHN. I never really considered folding against this opponent, though there are players against whom I would.
On a side note, I seem to have discovered a real talent for flopping top pair whenever my opponent decides to slowplay AA.... |
