Default 10/20 6-max, flopped set, did I lose too many bets

Analyzing my play, I think I could have lost one fewer bet here. Reviewing it, I think there are 2 different ways I could have played the last two streets better, your thoughts?

Dealt to Hero [ 5h 5c ]
Villian raises [$20].
X folds.
Y folds.
Z folds.
Hero calls [$10].
** Dealing Flop ** [ Tc, 9h, 5d ]
Hero checks.
Villian bets [$10].
Hero calls [$10].
** Dealing Turn ** [ 6d ]
Hero checks.
Villian bets [$20].
Hero raises [$40].
Villian raises [$40].
Hero raises [$40].
Villian calls [$20].
** Dealing River ** [ 8s ]
Hero bets [$20].
Villian raises [$40].
Hero calls [$20].
Villian shows [ 7c, 8c ] a straight, six to ten.
Hero doesn't show [ 5h, 5c ] three of a kind, fives.
Villian wins $303 from the main pot with a straight,

Definitely a turn donkbet. Saves you a bet in this case, but more importantly avoids giving nasty free cards to gutshots.

Consider fastplaying the flop.
