Now we all know that bots can and have been used internet games at all levels. We also know that a simple phone call with someone at the same table can allow for huge advantage at the table. Was just wondering what was some of the things internet sites do to help prevent this? At the high limit table where people play each other frequenty it would be almost impossible (besides someone sporting a 50bb/100) to detect cheating of that nature. Also one more question I'm guessing by the small rake that unlike respected casinos theres no "eye in the sky" watching tables.
I've seen a few posts on cheating but mostly they are posted by dork players/posters and the winning majority don't even consider this a factor... I tend to believe it's huge -ev to be sitting at a table that features a cheater and I'm all about +ev. NewbieStyle |

Was just wondering what was some of the things internet sites do to help prevent this? [/ QUOTE ] Regarding collusion, there is nothing that the sites can do to prevent it. All that they have done (or can do) is to prevent multiple users with the same IP to play on the same table. Regarding bots, the only NL bots that I am aware of that work at all are the Ed Miller short stack bots. Again, there really isn't a lot that the sites can do to prevent bots, as any precaution they take to prevent them must be specific to a certain bot, and cannot prevent future bots. Personally, I have never really worried much about the others cheating, but I highly suspect that there is a large amount of collusion taking place. Also, I believe there are certain betting patterns and plays that when combined with the players' hole cards flag the site's security. I am not speaking with 100% authority here so correct me if I'm wrong. |

Thanks, that's what I was looking for. I guess I just feel safer in a card room (unfounded but at least you can beat the [censored] out of a cheat if caught) then online.

What are you implying here? You think I'm a dork because I'm intrested in what type of protection internet sites in India have against cheating? Do you think there's no cheating on the internet... please, with the number of collage age kids playing you don't think any of them can figure how a sure way deal to make money online by cheating(I know I can). If you don't think it's a factor then why don't we set up a table where me and two of my buddys can sit down and play against you. I'll play for any limit 3vs1.

With the exception of really blatant collusion (one plays LAG, the other tight/weak, and the LAG sets a pot for the tight/weak guy when he's got AA), it'd be very hard to flag colluders, IMHO. |

This will always be an issue, and as Big Jim said there's not much sites can do about beyond what theyre currently doing. Having said that, I dont feel like the edge gained playing NL Holdem ring games is that siginificant by just knowing the hole cards of 1 or 2 other players. The edge in PL Omaha, however, could be quite substantial.
