Default Simple 2nd Barrel - Shorthanded 200NL

I've promoted myself to 200NL - and I like it.

In the short time Ive played at this level, its apparent that while there are still bad players around, good game selection is crucial.

I found myself in a 4-handed game on PokerRoom, all opponents are loose passive and generally bad. Im not sure how big the stacks are, so assume $200 all round.

Is this play standard at shorthanded? Or am I spewing again?

Im in the SB with JJ, UTG folds, UTG+1 calls ($2), I make it $9, BB folds, and UTG+1 calls.

(Pot:$22)Flop: 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img],10[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img],K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
I bet $15, UTG+1 calls.

(Pot:$52)Turn: A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]
I bet $35...

Any comments appreciated. Thanks.

What do you think he has that he will now fold here ?
QJ just made the nuts, AK just made two pair, TT already has trips. 44 already has trips.
medium pairs are already gone based on your raise and flop bet (and you are miles ahead of them in any case).

The only thing you *might* bluff out is KQ/KJ (even KT is ahead of you, and might get stubborn).

Thus, I dont like it.

Check behind and hit a Q .

Personally, I'd rather check/call the turn than bet it. No better hand is folding. And by checking you might induce a bluff, and you can't get raised off the best hand. And you might hit your gutshot to the nuts on the river and stack off against him if he really has a big hand here. I think your $35 is better spent calling than betting here. You're basically bluffing with a hand with showdown value. I either check/fold if the guy is tight/passive or check/call if he might be taking a shot at me.

Thanks for your comments. It is true that my hand had showdown value, and I wasted it. So Im not going to make it my standard move....

My turn bet was in the hope that Kx would fold, which I felt he was holding, and of course my plan was to check-fold a useless river if the turn bet was called.

FWIW villain said "Nice turn..." and folded.

You got lucky if he actually folded a K. Most people in this game will not fold a K here.

They may fold. But they aren't folding anything that is beating you very often. And you might get a bluff out of a worse hand if you check. And you might hit a set or your gutshot on the river. And they might raise a worse hand if you bet. All things pointing towards c/c being a nice little line here.

How much are you willing to check/call? I like the check/call line the least here.

What's the plan on the river if you c/c the turn and don't get any help? I think you either bet the turn or check/fold.
