Live 1/2 NL
I am at a full-table, 1/2 NL game at the Flamingo. The game is really loose and passive, as always. My reads on the players are as follows:
SB is passive and loose, but not as loose as the rest of the game. He will call draws incorrectly, however he will also fold if the bet is high enough. In other words, he knows what hands are good and what are not, he just has trouble letting one go. BB is extremily loose. He will call, as far as I have seen, any size bet on a draw. He will call any large raise with any A as well. Lastly, MP is new, so I have no reads. All I have seen is him win a pot with K2o, which he called a raise with, and he bet out hard the whole way. I am UTG+1 with A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] UTG folds, I make it $11 to go, 4 players call, as well as both the blinds. The flop comes: A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]8 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] SB ($185 behind) bets $25. BB ($450 behind) calls, I call, MP ($85 behind) raises to $50, folded to SB who calls, BB calls, and I call. The turn is the J [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Blinds check, I bet $100, MP calls all-in, and both blinds call. The river is the K [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] SB bets all-in ($35), BB calls, I call. Now, I think I am beaten by one of them, who has the flush. However, with the size of the pot, I had to call, I think. Also, I could have pushed the flop, but with the reads I had and the action these players tend to make, I felt that I would see a safe turn (the J being VERY safe) and betting hard there instead. Thoughts? I want to post results, but I mustn't! |

Re: Live 1/2 NL
I fold the flop against many reasonable players because betting into that many players is usually a sign of great strength. A bet coming from a LAP is never a good sign either.

Re: Live 1/2 NL
True, however, this is not a reasonable player. While he can fold a little more than others, he still calls incorrectly, and I have seen him bet out with top pair bad kicker often. That is why I flat called, because I wanted to see his turn action. His call of the raise, and check on the turn screamed to me that my two pair was good, and I truly believed the A was good on its own.

Re: Live 1/2 NL
i'm not trying to berate but maybe you should folded preflop. UTG+1 is a horrible position...if it was MP+1 or 2 i woulda done the raise but....too many players left to act. let me know what you think.

Re: Live 1/2 NL
I like what you are saying, about PF folding. However, I just can't agree. In a normal game, I would. However, here, position is somewhat lessened, as there is a lot of limping, and a lot of them doing it with terrible hands. By raising, I know I am going to get several calls, and I can get some money in there for a possible nut flush, and I can get out a few mediocre hands. I just don't want to limp, and then have some random two-pair beat me out, and I don't want to fold because there is too much equity by being in with the crap these players call with. The game is so passive and loose that I felt I could have limped, but decided to raise for the reasons I have above.

Re: Live 1/2 NL
folding preflop is pretty bad. unless there's been a lot of pf aggression, you should almost always limp with AJs and take a flop.
just realized the whole problem started with hero inflating the pot with AJs oop in first place. hero should have limped. |

Re: Live 1/2 NL
i agree, limp then reraise the flop, agression after your reraise and i think you can let this hand go. But I guess it does depend how much you have behind you, as I don't think you mentioned that
