Yep I say push. He's been happy with this hand the whole way, I don't think he'll fold it.

Unless you can see him checkraising the turn with K9 or AK, you're only behind one hand. Based upon your description of him I'd push and expect to see two pair or a lower set.

I'm a pansy, so I probably just call the river raise. Limp-call, check-call, check-minraise, check-minraise could be a lot of things, anywhere from JQ to Kd9d to a set. The stacks are deep enough that I'd just call (if the max buy-in was $200 and you could reload to more than $50 if you lost, I'd probably push).

This is exactly how a maniac would play 89 or a set. So I call here.

I called, thinking his range could include 89 or K9 as well as lesser sets or even two pair, however, I was wrong.

He showed J9 and MHIG.

This is a maniac. I'm pushing here - AK (I assume he would've raised AK pre-flop) or K9 I'm definitely not worried about, and I think the times he has 2-pair (definitely possible) or a lower set will pay off much more than when he has 89.

C'mon. At least a min-reraise is in order here. I'd be calling any bet.
