Going to LA for first time- need suggestions
I'm staying at the commerce plaza hotel for the WPT Legends event at the Bike and I was wondering what cash games are the most profitable at those 2 casinos. I've adapted a lot of Miller's SSHE and can 8 table Party skins 2-4 in my sleep for a pretty astonishing clip but mostly I play nl MTT's and SNG's with some 400 NL mixed in. I think I could comfortably play 6-12, 9-18 and 500 buyin NL but really don't know where the best games are. Thx in advance for any input.

I honestly did search before I posted this. You may not want to help me but help the average Joe who has never played at the Bike or Commerce casinos.

Re: Going to LA for first time- need suggestions
6-12 is a joke at both The Bike and Commerce. Take your pick, it won't matter.
9-18 is only offered at Commerce. It's usually the most aggressive low-limit game in SoCal. It's also a tremendously easy game. If you have the bankroll to handle wild swings, this is the game to play. The 8-16 at The Bike is generally as good as the 6-12. The 100 and 200 NL games at Commerce are easy. The 200 game is better and usually holds fewer rocks. I don't know about the 400 NL game. |

Re: Going to LA for first time- need suggestions
Would your suggestion to play ultra TAG in the 9/18 or is better to see a lot of flops with small pairs and suited connectors? The 8/16 at the bike sounds interesting, is that composed of weak tight rocks or is it a toned down version of the 9/18.

Re: Going to LA for first time- need suggestions
Ultra-TAG is only useful for beginning, short-stacked, no-limit play.
You should use Loose Game Preflop Hand Recommendations at 9/18 and 8/16 (page 82 of SSHE). It's perfectly fine to limp with Q9s*, Axs, or 22 UTG. I'd still throw away KJo UTG/UTG+1, but I'd limp with ATo. The 8/16 is generally more passive than the 9/18. Rocks? Ha. Ha ha. 8/16 is plenty loose. Expect smaller variance and smaller pots. In the long-run, the 8/16 is only slightly less profitable than the 9/18. In the short-run, you're more likely to show a profit at 8/16 since your good hands are a bit more likely to hold up. *K9s-J9s should sometimes be thrown away UTG at these games. After an orbit, you'll know if you can limp profitably with these. |
