Default Is this a jerk move by this guy?

This guy was just moved to our table a few hands ago and had been aggressive. I was planning to just limp here and call a raise, or possibly re-raise since I was out of position. Instead he just checked. Notice it's two big stacks (myself and him) and a short stack). I get a great flop for me. I check in order to induce the desperate short stack to push. I get him to bet, and then I put him all in. Then the BB/Big Stack comes over the top and puts me all in for 24,000 chips with both of us top 10 out of 180 players.

I think and put him on a BB special two pair or maybe the low set.

Instead he has middle pair with no kicker and doubles up the short stack. He said he re-raised me all in because he knew I wouldn't put my tournament on the line.

Am I out of line to say that he should have respected my raise and let me get out the short stack?

Fgators you need to stop idolizing hellmuth and his weak tight plays. be like matasow and get some cajones

Tom,

Would you have risked your whole tournament on top pair, 2nd best kicker?

We could have eliminated the short stack.

I'm not sure I would, probaly depends how loose the big stack has been playing and maybe the buyin. But I was just saying that some of your other posts have weak-tight vibes to them.
Just my 02 cents

i don't really see knocking out the short stack as a concern with 180 people left still

I try to model myself after Dan Harrington's books. And maybe a little of Hellmuth. I don't have much maniac in me, though the Mouth is one of my favorite players to watch.

why is it a jerk move if he outplayed you? unless you are at the final table and there is serious money on the line, there is no unspoken rule to gang up and eliminate the short stack.

so, tell me where in Harrington's book it says you should be trying to knock out the shortstack.

you have 180 players left dude.
it wouldn't have been any kind of 'jerk' move even with 3 players left...but with 180 players left your contention is ridiculous.

note that if YOU had raised more on the flop you could have prevented him from mustering the courage to come over the top of you.

instead of blaming your opponent for 'not playing fair' or other such nonsense why don't you analyze your own play?

since he also told you that he knew you would fold I'm guessing you elicted that info out of him...possibly you telling him that you folded KQ...and or telling him that he shouldn't have done that with a short-stack....if you did either of these things in the chat-box then I would strongly recommend you stop doing that.
