Default playing a hand like a hand i dont have...

villian is knowledgable and a good hand reader.

fish limps (58/22) UTG+2 in a 10 handed game, 1 fold, villian iso raises, i immediately to villian's left 3bet JcJh. they both call 3 handed to the flop.

Kd9d4d flops, fish checks, villian thinks and bets out, i raise fish folds villian calls.

turn is 5c. check check.

river is 6d check bet.

I think you must bet this turn. If the villian is a knowledgable player he most likely would still bet the turn with a hand that beats you as a lone Ace of dimonds is a likely hand for you. If you are ahead a lot of cards can beat you. I think you can fold to a turn c/r. I am most likely missing something big but I don't understand the turn check. The river bet either btw.

Barron,

I'm confused on this one. Are you value betting this river, or are you trying to fold QQ w/ no diamond or a baby flush?

What's your read on his hand? FWIW, I would play this the same way - not sure that's a good thing.

I'm not sure I like it. What were you hoping to accomplish with a river bet? I imagine it was to fold a K, but villain is more likely to have a diamond than a K, and I don't see any diamond folding. Therefore, I think you're losing when you're called, a lesser hand won't call, and you're only folding a small number of hands you beat.

Does he expect you to take a free card with the nut flush draw? I think Ad bets here a lot on the turn, but if not, it looks exactly like the nut flush draw.

I don't like any part of this after the flop. NONE of it.

There are REASONS that certain holdings go along with certain plays.

The thing is Barron, if this guy is a good hand read, this line makes no sense. He knows that you know he is iso raising the fish, so he might even think you have a weaker hand then you do. Given his assumptions about your range, i think he bets the flop with a bunch of hands, many of which include diamonds. He may also have iso-raised against a fish like that with KQ or KJ. The only hand i see you folding on this river worse than yours is QQ with no diamond. I would just take the showdown for free. I like all the other streets.

I think you should bet when you are ahead and check when you are likely behind.

I second this, but in all seriousness to the last poster, what makes you think he is giving free cards. For all we know we have 1 or 2 outs. Yes i like the turn check, i would check that tun most times against most players.
