Default When betting will only get you into trouble

Both players are standard 1/2 players. Will call with any sort of draw, but if hit a very made hand, will check raise.

Party Poker 1/2 Hold'em (9 max, 9 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is UTG+1 with T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
1 fold, Hero raises, 5 folds, SB calls, BB calls.

Flop: (6 SB) J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (3 players)
SB checks, BB checks, Hero bets, SB calls, BB calls.

I attempted to take diwn the pot here, but planned to check behind if called and UI on the turn.

Turn: (4.50 BB) T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (3 players)
SB checks, BB checks, Hero checks.

I have just hit the best worst card imaginable. I have a powerful set but any king makes a straight. I checked behind here because I wanted to go to a showdown but did not want to get check raised. Are there any arguments to betting this turn? Any king will check raise me and a lot of other draws will bail.

I also think that checking the turn will cause weaker hands to bet into me on the river thus snapping off a bluff

Thoughts?

I'd bet here. The only scary card is the K. Your likely to be ahead I think. You also have alot of outs to a boat and the split pot straight. Why give a free card to the flush draw? (Unless the opponents are of the type who always bet out the FD:s.)

The situation seems no worse than having the T [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] hit on the turn instead (assuming you had another T).

Or is this one of the HEFAP situations where you
[quoting from memory]
"check hands with outs and bet hands with no or few outs"
or is that just for OOP play?

Hero does have 10 cards to improve by filling up or making quads.

I'd check behind on this flop. Despite the lack of betting you are likely behind here. Very likely behind.

But, I'd bet the turn, since now you are likely ahead, and a check raise isn't too bad with how many outs we have.

Yes, this is what I meant by lots of outs, combining that
with the odds of being ahead I would bet.

Or do you mean, since one has lots of outs one should check this turn?

Plus atleast 3 outs to a split (possibly 4).

It is easy for the villains to connect to that kind of a flop, so Hero is prob. behind there. I prefer bluffing (or in this case semibluffing) only when it is reasonably likely that the villains have not hit the flop.

On the turn i'm calling (implied outs are great in that spot if somebody has a K and the river pairs the board). If i'm chekked to I bet, cause i dont think that anyboby who was trying to c/r or slowplay the flop is not betting the turn.

Don't always worry about the check raise. You are now beating any 2 pair hand and any ace. Occasionally you'll be check/raised by a king in which case you have 2-3 outs for a split and ten outs to a better hand where a king will pay you off bigtime. Don't always assume someone connected with a 4 straight board (or that they will check/raise the turn everytime they hit).
