River Bet Freezes Me

Villain is 50/19/1.8. He has taken down quite a few pots leading up to this with straightforward aggression. I decide this is the time to make my stand.

Party Poker 10/20 Hold'em (6 max, 5 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx

Preflop: Hero is MP with K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
UTG raises, Hero 3-bets, 2 folds, UTG calls.

Flop: (7.50 SB) Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (3 players)
UTG checks, Hero bets, UTG calls.

Turn: (4.75 BB) J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (3 players)
UTG checks, Hero bets, UTG calls.

River: (6.75 BB) Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (3 players)
UTG bets, Hero ?????

I'll admit it, I froze up. Didn't expect the bet and took some time to think about calling or raising.

PF 3-bet is marginal but I'll go with it. Re: the river, it's a must raise since he could be doing this with any lower pocket pair, 4, or A-high.

id raise and then call a 3bet...but if u think he really slow played it then just call...he may just have a small PP or a 4 and figures u dont have the J and that card was enough to scare u...but he could have a PP larger than ur J and safe played it b/c of the QQ flop...u have to call it...u just have to decide if u wanna raise and then maybe pay a 3bet off

I think your choice of a place to "take a stand" sucks. Even with a LAG raising UTG KJo is not that good. You are basically better than a K10/K9 or a QJ/Q10. I don't see many other hands you are ahead of. That said, I'm checking the turn here & folding the river UI.

Classicaly misread the cards. I agree with Jordans play, Ignore my check/fold!

Fold preflop, KJ is dominated too often. Raise/call the river, his postflop action + river card makes a Q, AA or KK very unlikely.

agreed it's an easy raise and easy call of a 3-bet. I've so many people do this (when trips hit the board,).. they bet out "I just got a full house!" kinda thing with bottom pair, mid pair, etc.

Really??? I don't have the experience that KJ is dominated too often. When it is I think I can usually figure it out pretty easily. Am I wrong here in thinking that I'm not super worried about domination?
