Default Where to go in Vegas

Im going to vegas for 8 days in december and am looking for a good place to play. Who's got the lowest limits? The reason I ask is that I am going to be playing with some friends that really dont have very much money but want to play some poker.

Possibly the Excalibur $1-3, but I think there's a $1/2 game somewhere. Luxor, maybe?

Luxor has a 1/2, but the rake is $4 and it is only open after a "beginners session" is taught.

They have the same thing downtown at the Plaza, rake is $3 instead I believe.

Both of these games are midday, I havn't been able to find anything other then these myself. I usually settle for the 2/4 at MGM, which is usually extreamly soft.

$2/4 at the Imperial Palace is the softest game in town, hands down. Best comp rate too, $1 for every hour played.

The Palace, hu? Good advice, I'll make sure to stop by there myself next time I am in town. Any other suggestions?

Also, I usually do well at the Sahara. Nice deal there is that there is only one BB, no SB post at 2/4, so you get to see a few more cards at a discount. Usually it is a room full of old men and regulars though, so go on the weekends if you want to make the most of it.

How much do people usually tip at these games?

You might want to try the 4/8 game at Mandalay Bay. Although higher than you would normally consider, the blinds are mini, only $1 and $2 (same as a 1/2 game). Just play tighter preflop.

I played at the little $1/2 game at the Luxor and I think the usual tip was $1. With a small pot I didn't tip but most pots were at least $10 or so. Hell, it's Vegas, make up for it on the free booze by playing 1c video poker later.
