Online poker in state x

Alright, I live in california, where I know it's legal to play online poker ('know' here is something less than certain, but my best research says it is). Do any of you have any resources for what's legal in what states? I was contemplating moving to Texas where I have some friends and prices are lower, but if it's not going to be possible to play poker online without breaking the law (not to mention having to deal with not taxes), it would be pretty much unmanageable.

I'd hope there'd be some website or other that compiles these laws nicely, and there might even have been one posted, but I'm not really sure where to begin with search terms that don't throw up far too many replies to find an answer.
