Manipulating callers (maximizing profit)
You had A8d in the SB. Two people limp, you complete and the BB checks.
Flop comes 289 with one diamond (rainbow) You lead out on the flop and it gets called in one place and then raised by a tight-passive player. The button cold-calls, you call, and the first caller calls. Still 4 people to the turn. Turn comes an A, putting two hearts on the board. You check, hoping to check-raise. The flop raiser doesn't oblidge you, but now the button bets. At the time, I was giddy that I got to check-raise, but I think I jumped the gun to fast. Is it proper to call the bet and go for overcalls on the turn and then bet out on the river. If you face the turn with two cold you will probably only going to make two more from the button (the raise and a bet on the river). On the other hand, you will make at least that if you don't get outdrawn. However, I think the texture is just safe enough that aces up will get drawn out rarely enough by hands that aren't calling two-cold anyways. |
