Re: River play when the 4. card for at straight hits
I'm trying to think of what worse hands will call here. Spade draws (without 9s) fold here of course. A J that was backed into calls. I think it's rare to see an 8 call...I don't know, it's so close.
I probably bet. |

Re: River play when the 4. card for at straight hits
I bet/fold to a raise on the river.

I bet/fold, villains like that are calling w/ a lot that you beat, but won't raise anything you beat.

Re: River play when the 4. card for at straight hits
The likelihood of being raised by two pair or just a J is high enough that I'd be unable to make this fold to raise getting 10 to 1. So I'd check-call. One of them will bet if they have an 8 or better.

bet/call against these players. If first guy raises and second guy coldcalls, I'd probably fold. Otherwise call.

Re: River play when the 4. card for at straight hits
No reads: Bet/call
With reads suggesting the raiser is passive: Bet/fold I think you have to bet it any way. You'll be surprised at how many times you'll get one or two extra bets on the river from donkeys. It easily makes up for the times one of them has made his straight. Now folding to a raise would depend on reads. |
