Let's see ... a guy whose business is publishing print and online ads for poker sites decides to post something about a site which pays him for advertising ???

Sorry, that's spam.

It may seem a little spammy but this is something that I like to find out about. And if nobody ever posts it how am I to come upon this information.

Maybe a seperate forum specially for advertisements like this. But i guess they do charge for advertising.

On March 4, you told everyone that the "team play" in Pokerstars tourneys was the worst on the Internet ... now you think a spam ad for them is "good info for players" ?

(By the way, I loved your posted Poker-injuries thread where, after consultation and much advice, you finally figured out that if you occasionally used your OTHER hand, ....

Now, THAT was information of "real value" to players.)

first of all billy boy, don't call people a retard when you are too retarded to direct your reply to the person who REALLY called this spam. rusty jedi most definatley was not as harsh as ted geisel, so get it right.

second, to Ted, this is commercial forum, but the original poster here is a person that provides a paycheck (albeit too small i am sure) to sklansky and malmuth. the point is that this is an excellent example of a thread that will no doubt be allowed to stand, because the relationship with the forum operators/owners is quite cozy with the original poster.

there is nothing wrong with a little spam served at a family dinner.

does barry have the right to post announcements that are in essence ads? you betcha, and he should be able to. 2+2 has never claimed to be the great savior of spamfree posting, and this is an example of why people buy their own forums even with the existence of usenet.

Granny,

I just think it very odd that the publisher of both a magazine and a competing online site would post spam on 2+2 rather than pay for an ad.

if you read what i wrote between the lines ted, you would see i do not disagree with you at all.

however, i'm not sure that this is not exactly what having your own forum is all about. also, i don't necessarily agree that CP and 2+2 are competing websites.

if i owned this forum, and someone who provided me an avenue of circulation and gave me a paycheck wanted to post an announcement, i think i would let it stay.

again, jmho

As people can see, the original ad has been deleted as it does violate our spam policy. I let the replies stay, but if further replies cause this thread to be an advertisement, the whole thing will come down.
