Default 3-betting without AA

I've started to reraise a whole lot more preflop, because Im finding it really effective. Its really great against minraisers who often call the reraise and fold the flop bet unless they hit their set.

Anyway - heres a hand with a 3-bet

Hero is SB (450) with A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]
Villain is button (400) and has been doing a fair bit of raising himself. I think he borders on loose.

Preflop
2 limpers to villain who limps, hero makes it 25, folded to villain who minraises to 46. Hero doesnt believe he would limp AA/KK after a couple of limpers, so makes it 100 straight.

Who likes ? Make it more ? Push ?

If you're going to 3bet, you should make it more. Why did you make it so small? So you could get away if he comes over the top? Right now, its $54 to him into a $100-$100 pot and he's got position. Your hand is the czar of reverse-implied odds so you really don't want to have to play postflop in this situation (bloated pot, out of position). The reraise needs to have some folding equity and this one doesn't.

I see this with TT/JJ.
I don't like the 3-bet size. push or fold.

You see villain with JJ/TT ? Why didnt he raise on the button then ?
What do you do when the small blind raises, you have limp-reraised and the SB 3bets you and you have TT or JJ?

I felt strongly that button was trying it on with his minraise, perhaps trying to take control of the hand for when we both missed.

He folded to the three bet, although I probably should have made it 120 or so.

Sorry I didn't notice villian was on the button. I've seen TT/JJ from early-middle position where villian is testing the waters to see if the reraiser has an overpair.

I might be in the minority but I don't 3 bet anything. All you are doing is defining your hand and allowing a worse hand to get away. The type of opponent who will call or raise a 3 bet with a worse hand is just as likely to get it allin on the flop with the worst hand anyway. Against "smarter" opponents by calling I give away no additional information about my hand, therefore they are more likely to make a mistake. JMO
