KK, flop 99J
Hi all
Long time lurker, first time poster. Villain just sat down and posted a blind in CO, so I had no read whatsoever. But sitting down with $10, as he did, I couldn't have to much respect for him. Whenever someone posts and asks "was I too aggressive?" it seem to me that bare the most bizzare bets, the answer usually is "no" or "is there such a thing as too aggressive?". Still, I'd like to ask the same thing - was I too aggressive? All help would be greatly appreciated. Party Poker $1/2 (9 max, 9 handed) Preflop: Hero is MP3 with K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. Re: KK, flop 99J
Taken down by a crappy player : ( Happens but oh well. If you're not going to bet with cowboys, on the off chance someone has one of the 2 nines, what are you going to be aggressive with? I like your play : )
Welcome to posting, by the way : ) |

Re: KK, flop 99J
Well, at what point do you say that the Villain has trips and that the KK might be beaten? Villain seems to be playing aggressive all along after flop which would be consistent with him holding a 9.
In general, if one thinks the opponent *might* have trips, then what's the best strategy - keep raising with the pocket Kings or perhaps check/call or even fold? If he has trips then your drawing to only 2 outs. |

Re: KK, flop 99J
his flop raise looks more like he wants to protect his hand. i expect a 9 to slowplay in this hand cuz there were 2 customers to lose, especially if shortstacked.

Re: KK, flop 99J
Ok, thanks all.
This was one of the last hands in a pretty crappy session where aggression seemed to equal "bet more -> lose more", and it sort of got stuck in my head as a symbol of that, somthing I could have played better. So, thanks for helping me straighten that out. |

Re: KK, flop 99J
Looks fine to me. I didn't look at the results, but from the tone of your post I assume Villan pulled the pot with 92o or some other 9x trash. He was trying to burn off his stack and got lucky. Rub some dirt on it, take a salt pill and get back in there.

Re: KK, flop 99J
With 2 others padding the pot you don't have to be right very often to make capping the flop correct. When he raises the turn (assuming he still had money left) it's time to start thinking about slowing down, but I would still often 3-bet.
