You need to understand that you're making tons of money by having this sort of guy at your table.

What's with you're coldcall on the turn? You're behind precisely one hand.

He is thinking that a 7 will come and he'll win a huge pot. And if it doesn't come he'll think maybe everyone in the world was just bluffing and my 7's are good.

This is like asking why the guys at the craps table keep betting the hardways? They do it because it's fun, it's action and they crave and need the action. In this case the guy is putting 92 cents on the dollar into the pot every time he calls. That is about as close to a free gift as you will ever get in poker. Be happy, even if he catches his miracle card.

I've seen this live, and the pocket pair guy explained on the river "You just can't fold pocket pairs". I've also heard people "teaching" holdem to others, "a pocket pair is a good hand here, because you could hit a set" (on a terrifying board).

Both comments caused the entire table to do that nodding uh huh thing. Apparently lots of low limit players believe this. Be happy.

Because he's donating multiple bets to you the majotiy of the time and collecting multiple bets from you the minority of the time. If you play this hand through the turn 100 times and we deal a new river card each time, do you think he makes more money off of you than you do off of him?
