15-30 Hand, Q9 on the kill
I'm UTG in a 10-20 game with a 1/2 kill. I've just made a nice flush then won with AA, so it's time to kill it (turns into 15-30 with me posting 15). I look down and have Q9o, so I raise.
All fold to CO who calls. Button 3-bets (I figure he has a good hand if he's 3-betting with 1 caller. If it was just me, I might not put him on such a good hand b/c a killer raiser generally doesn't have as good of cards as a normal raiser). Big blind calls the two bets cold (but he'd done that all night with crap, so most likely he had two suited cards). The four of us see a flop of Q T x, rainbowed. I check, CO checks, button bets, BB folds. I consider check-raising him, but he's the type of player who will 3-bet me with AK or AJ as much as AA or KK (QQ kills me too). Plus the other player would call two bets cold just as easily as one (he had for several hours now). The other player calls. turn is a 9, puts a two-flush on board. I check (planning on check-raising), CO checks, button bets, I raise, CO folds, button gives me a disgusted look and calls. River is a x, (the two blanks from the flop and river were a 2 and a 3) no flush. I bet, he calls. I show my two-pair and he mucks AKo face-up like I had just cracked off his aces...comments on my thinking/reasoning? Dante |

Re: 15-30 Hand, Q9 on the kill
Pre-flop: check (no raise), call one raise (or fold) with four players in, out of position
Flop: check-raise Turn: bet or check-raise (whatever gets the most $$$ in the pot) depending on the action on the flop River: bet |

Re: 15-30 Hand, Q9 on the kill
just my opinion, but I think that raising in this situation is an overall loser. If you get played with, you are beaten so you may as well have had a couple more players bets in the pot if you are going to have to "gin" the flop.

Why are you raising Q9o from UTG?

Re: 15-30 Hand, Q9 on the kill
i think it's some high delusion about everyone folding to his raise
either that or he wants to play against only people whose cards are completely kicking his ass instead of allowing odds to be built up for him to flop something |

Re: 15-30 Hand, Q9 on the kill
It's not that much of a delusion, my UTG raises are fairly well respected...I was kind of looking for comments on flop and after, and yes, I do realize that my raise was...er..atypical..
