Default Full to SH - how\'d you do it?

Trying to get better at SH, but it's too easy to stick with winning ways in full ring. I assume most people went from full -> sh and not the other way around. I'm considering dropping full ring entirely until I finish about 5-10k hands shorthanded regardless of results, then reevaluate. Is that wise? I'm not a winning SH player at the moment, but that might force me to shape up my game.

I've been playing 1 table, and reading this forum a lot in my spare time beyond my normal multitabling regime

I cleared a 2k hand Paradise bonus at 1/2 6 Max for my segue into SH play. I ran well and it was at lower stakes than I normally played but was really helpful to get used to the variance at a low level.

i did 2 things:
1. pretended it was full and the first 4 seats folded.
2. played drunk.

My recent transition from full to 3/6 6max often makes me want to *start* drinking -- even when I win!! Is that the same thing??

I'm still trying to learn it. My method is to use half my time to 1-2 table SH and really concentrate and the other half to actually make money in fullhanded games.

I went the other way around. Still trying to figure out full, to be completely honest.

It's not a hard transition. A preflop chart helps, but if you're good preflop in rull ring (read: think about position and reads), you'll be able to quickly adjust to 6max. The game really isn't too much different, IMO. Just alot more read-centric.

I was worried the same way you were, and I discovered the transition was much easier than I was lead to believe.

I cleared bonuses while I started the 1/2$ 6-max. I directly hit a big downswing but the bonuses didnt let me feel that bad about it. Fortunately, after 10k hands I won everything back at the tables.
