Default Donk bet at river, is a raise here chip spewing?

Villain was 47/8 and hadn't appeared overly tricky, but would often show down some mediocre hands.

This donk is so moronically stupid that I'd raise. I HATE donks. So much.

I think you're good here 2/3 times to re-raise.

He either has KJ, AJ, or JJ. I can't imagine what else he'd be betting with. If he isn't overly tricky, chances are he feels he has the winning hand. You've been representing AK at every street, unless he's a total moron he must realize that this is what you have.

I'd probably just call. Against other opponents I'd raise, but since you described him as "not overly tricky", I think he has you beat.

What did he end up having?

This is the same guy that is playing every other hand out of the blind eh. I think you can raise for value here. And take a note once the hand is over.

I just found it odd that he bet on the river instead of doing the check-call that he did on every other street. If he's not "overly tricky", to me that means that he made his hand.

When a calling station suddenly gets aggressive, I know I'm generally beat.

Hm I'm not sure where you got that passive part from(from this single hand) He could have something like AJ, AQ. Maybe he put our hero on something like QQ/TT. He could put in his last bet with 99/88. Trying to bluff our hero out of the pot. Or hoping Hero would call with AQ or AJ(when he has Kx).

Or he just likes to donk bet with nothing. These donk bets mean zilch a lot of the time except for those rare moments that our villian is a 49/8/0.02/.

But what do I know . I play 3/6 6max

It's when the OP mentioned that villain is "not overly tricky" that I took it to mean that he's passive. I could be wrong, though. If I'm wrong about him being passive, a raise would be the way to go, you're right.

I could throw in a raise, but only if I'm willing to fold to a 3-bet. If you have a read that he's at least somewhat passive (and not tricky like you mentioned) then I think the river raise, fold to 3-bet line is best here.

What hands are you afraid of? KJ? A set or straight you would have heard from sooner.

You have to raise here. If you get 3 bet, you'll have to play poker. You're ahead way too often to just call here, though.
