Default was I on tilt?

or was this a reasonable play? I had been losing a lot of big pots before this hand came up.

Live 8-16

I had been card dead for a while and hadn't played a hand since villian sat down. My read on villain (from playing with him before) was that he was quite agressive but was smart and could lay down a hand, but he tended to be a super-reader type.

Button liked to cold call PF and then play tight-passive postflop.

Preflop: hore is in CO with 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]
4 limpers to hero including villian on my right, hero limps, button limps, SB folds, BB checks

Flop: (6 players, 6SB) 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]
checks to villain who bets, hero raises, folds to villian, villain 3-bets, hero caps, villain calls

Turn: (2 players, 7BB) A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img])
villian bets, hero calls

River: (2 players, 9BB) J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img])
villain bets, hero calls

Dunno, what was your emotional state?

From the hand, looks like it. I dont think I cap this flop. Or call the river bet.

Agreed.

You capped the flop and he led right into you on the expensive streets. Even though I love 88, they have to shrivel up to nothing here.

You had an OESD so I wouldn't have capped but I would've seen it to the river. He probably has you beat unless he's an aggro maniac raising with something like K7.

I got to here and stopped reading. So which is it? Have you been losing a lot of big pots or have you been not playing hands?

I had been taking a real beating and was definitely frustrated. I had convinced myself that it wasn't affecting my game, though.

Both, I lost some big pots earlier in the session and then went card dead. Villain hadn't seen me losing the big pots, though, he had sat down somewhat recently.

So where do you think the value was in capping the flop?

I think the answer to this is something you are going to have to come up with on your own. also, what is a super-reader type?

villain probably has two pair.

Call the three bet
Fold the river

No you weren't on tilt, just over valued your overpair/OESD

Happens

Next Hand
