5-10 at the taj. in the sb with kings. look up to see everyone folding. this sucks. well im going to play this hand anyways. young guy about my age to the left in the big blind asks if I want to chop. No I say, I raise. He laughs about it and then calls. Of course the flop contained an Ace but I bet it anyways. He called. Turn is a blank. I bet and he calls. River is another blank, and because I am such I nice guy I check the river. He checks and I turnover KK and they are good. Wow that was a close one. He later told me he had K9, so he was drawing pretty slim. So cast your vote for me, the biggest douche in the uiverse.

I vote douche... if you chop, you chop. If you don't chop, you don't chop. You don't make the decision after you've seen your cards. Doing so will make people think you are a douche.

Seriously, what DOES chop mean? I've only played a couple hundred hours online and have never heard it used.

In live games, if no one enters the pot, the blinds can agree to chop the blinds. That is they throw their hands away and keep their blinds. It is not an option online as far as I know.

"Chopping" the blinds occurs when everyone has folded to the small blind. The small blind and big blind can then agree to "chop" or take back their blinds without playing out the hands. It's considered bad etiquette to selectively chop.

Sorry if I sound a little naive, but why would you want to do this. This just sounds mean. If you don't want to chop, just tell your neighbor you don't and play your hand. I don't know of a single poker player who who minds not chopping as long as their opponent is consistent, meaning he/she does it all the time regardless of their hand.

What you're suggesting is equaled to slow-rolling your hand against a complete stranger just to be an as*****.
