Default bankroll

how much money should you deposit in a site to play at the .1/.25 level? then how much should you have before you move up to .25/.5? then .5/1?

Default Re: bankroll

The general rule of thumb for limit play is to keep a roll of 300 big bets, i.e. $300 at the .5/1 game. This has to do with minimizing risk of ruin and regards your total playing bankroll (it also assumes you're a winning player). So if you want to deposit once and never replenish your roll at this site, then put in 300bb. If you can redeposit at will (have money in the bank that you're willing continue playing with) it doesn't really matter then does it?

And for the love of god man, deposit enough to clear the maximum bonus.

manpower - excellent answer. I started with 50BBs . . .4 times in .5/1, then never looked back once I had a winning streak.
