how often do you FLOP a set?

i say 1/13, with a 1/8 chance of hitting a set using all 5 cards. my buddy says that you flop a set 1/8 of the time. which is it, or neither?

i know ive seen it my way (1/13), and he quoted an acticle today saying his 1/8 was correct. we got 200 riding on it....

Or about 1-in-8.5 on flop and 1-in-5 by river.

I guess we're all assuming you're starting with a pocket pair?

Because if not, it's much, much lower

Neither of you are correct but your friend is closer. The odds of flopping a set are 7.5:1.
