Default Heads up raising conditions

I play lots of home games. We mostly play NL hold em tournies for 5 or 10 bucks. Very freqeuntly I get into a heads up no limit situation. What kind of hands should I be raising and how much? I am aware of the 3.5 times the big blind rule, but when should I bet diffrent? And what do I do if he bets first? What kind of hands are worth calling or re-raising if he acts first?
We both have 2,000 in chips and the blinds are 200-400. Thats pretty close.

Hi12 I think it depends a lot on the type of player your against and how many chips you and your opponets have.A rock with a reasonable amount of chips you might even fold AK or a pair of tens if he's getting low he will have to play more hands and id play back at him for all his chips with the same or even a lot worse cards. In the same situation against a loose player i'd play back at him with AQ or middle pair. If you can build a big stack use it like a club especially against tight short stacks. Try being supper agressive 1 or 2 games a night dont limit your self to a style try different things. Mark H

I would say first in for a raise 27o is a raising hand if you know your opponets. its amazing how much information is being given away most hands even by some pretty good players. Watching players yet to act how they hold their cards how long they look facial expresions some times those two junk cards are pure gold Mark H
