Default Question for dealers

Hello -

I am moving to LA in a few weeks, and I'll be in school Mondays and Wednesdays going for the ol' masters. Therefore, this eliminates the possibility of a standard 9 to 5 job...so I was thinking about what I'll do during this time, and I thought that perhaps being a dealer might be a viable option - I think I'd enjoy it.

So I guess what I'm asking for are all the basics on dealing - pre-requisite training, typical hours, wages, the way tips are made, politics of the job, and whether you enjoy it or not. I'm thinking that the job would be a lot different depending on where you deal and at what limit.

Any info would be great - you can certainly PM me as well.

Thanks!

well, you are going to want to get someone to traffic your goods cuz that eliminates a lot of the risk on your end. It will cut into your profits but I think that this you are on the right track. Make sure you cut it correctly, or you will get some mad customers.

good luck with your new career, keep us informed!

lol - that's pretty funny man. I never realized that I forgot to specify casino dealer!

In all honesty, if this type of questioning is out of line or not appropriate for this forum, somebody just let me know - I wasn't sure, but I really have no other resource for this.

Thanks!

it's a good question that i'd kinda like answered too, but I couldn't resist giving you a hard time about it. I'm considering a dealer job, I think it would be interesting and decent paying right out of the gate.

seriously though, i don't know how things work out in california, as far as going to school goes, but here in oklahoma i went to school for free which was definately good. as far as the job goes, it's alright. it's better than working at mcd's, that's for sure.

The first thing to do if you want to be a dlear is learn how to deal. I have seen a few palces that "train" dealers. I would avoid those unless you never want to deal in a better place. I have never seen a dealer come from one of these palces that train in house and be able to deal in a well run room. I know of someone that delat in MS for quite a while and was one of the better dealers in his casino. When he went to work at the Bike he was treated jsut like any other break in that had never dealt in a casino before. SO I guess you oculd say that 3 years of experience in MS at a place other than the Horseshoe would be a substitute for a 100 hour dealing class (but having seen a lot of dealers from both categories I would take the dealer out of school over the one that dealt in a room that didn't require good dealer procedures).
