Default Did I play it right??

Heres the situation
Home Game 18 players $60 buyin with 1 rebuy allowed
1st 800
2nd 500
3rd 330
4th 100

Play is 4 handed
Blinds 2000-4000

UTG t6500
Button t15000
SB (Hero) t8800
BB t29000

UTG and Button both fold
I catch Q9 I push in my final 6800
BB calls with J7 and catches a jack to win
Was this thwe wrong play?
The table was playing pretty tight but the other small stack was in the BB next hand

I might have waited and seen if the short stack got crippled with the blinds. The big stack can call you easily and still be in the lead, so he has a big incentive to gamble to knock you out.

It depends someone on your image in the game situation, but I think I would have folded and waited for another spot.

If you are playing to win, this is a good play. Your hand is better than average and is a favorite over two random cards.

If you want to just move up in the money, you should have waited for the small stack to bust out. He's coming up on the blinds and should be knocked out unless he catches some cards.

I agree with comments above, Was tht 8800 before you put in the SB or after? If it was before, then I'd say if you are going to play the hand it's a clear push. But, keep in mind, he's getting 3-1 to call and it's almost an auto-call on his part without even looking at his cards.

If winning is very important, then yes, it's clearly the right play. If another $230 is important to you, then it's a clear fold IMO.
