Default 30/60 QJs

After not playing for almost a month, coming back and hitting a -9k swing, and feeling crap about my game, I thought I may as well post some hands.

5-Handed.

Preflop: Hero is MP with J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
UTG raises, Hero 3-Bets, 3 folds, UTG calls.

Flop: 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)
UTG checks, Hero bets, UTG calls.

Turn: A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players)
UTG checks, Hero checks.

River: J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)
UTG bets, Hero folds.

Villain for this hand is a regular (35/20), obviously a little loose, but generally pretty reasonable against me. My current image is probably not too relevant since we've played so many hands together, but I've been winning without many showdowns.

Edit:

gut reaction is a call

But I can't put this guy on a hand we beat save 77-99, probably a good fold.

Bet turn, he may fold a hand such as another QJ, KQ, maybe a small pair. Its unlikely he has AT, and getting checkraise on the turn is not bad for you at all since you can make 2 bets back on the river when you hit anyways. (Maybe more if his hand is relly big and hyou hit a gutshot)

River fold is good.

i think its rare that you should check behind on the turn and not call the river

77-99 all good as well. He doesn't beat any of them.

Those were my thoughts exactly, one of those hands that feels/looks bad originally but I think the postflop is good... I would've folded preflop of course

I think you have to fire out on the turn here. 8 immediate outs to the nuts plus an additional 9 assuming he doesn't have Kx of diamonds. Betting here gives you more chances to take this down. Assuming he's not folding here, he may check the river giving you a free showdown.

Sorry, meant to reply to main topic.
Mandatory bet on turn every time imo. Too frisky preflop + weak postflop = bad combo and maybe a sign of the results changing your game plan.
