Anyone have an off shore bank account?

HSBC, Barclay's, and Chase all offer off shore bank accounts that you can deposit money into in different currencies. I'm moving to the UK for a little while, but might be moving back to the US, or moving somewhere else in the world in a year. Is it worth trying one of these accounts? or is it easier to have an account in the US and an account in the UK?
