have you ever encountered this in a heads-up match on party?
I played a headsup match against a guy who appeared to be a horrible 6max player. He asked me if I wanted to play headsup after I told him he sucked (I was trying to bait him into playing HU). Turns out, he was actually a decent heads-up player. The end result of our match: I was up $1 and he paid the rake of $30. Here's why I left the match early:
He kept sitting out after playing a hand where he posted the small blind. He would then come back in, Party would move the button, and he would post the SB again. He did this every five hands or so. Ultimately, I had to do it too to counter it, but that got annoying after a few minutes. Anyone ever see anything like this? FWIW, the guy's name was "meontilt" |

Yes. This tactic is actually mentioned in King Yao's book, FWIW.

yah, in a lot of ways party is a horrible site to play headsup.
-the rake is much higher (UB caps at $.50) -the sb is in the wrong position (should be the button) -and they allow that cheeky maneuver (should just be the first person to sit/current one sitting gets/keeps the button to prevent this. |

[/ QUOTE ] I thought about this - would you rather be the button and pay $5/hand over and over again or be the SB and pay $2/hand? I don't know the answer to that. I guess it should be obvious - position in HU is pretty huge. Now that I think about it some more, it was the other way around. He kept taking the button and I was stuck with the SB. I think the only resolution in a situation like this is to get up and leave. |
