RAGE..
Hey guys. I've never posted to this forum, but after last night I realized that I suck at controlling my emotions. Getting sucked out on in 5 consecutive SNGs sent me over the edge whereupon I threw things, punched other things, and screamed at the top of my lungs.
How do I fix this? I feel really lame asking this since I'm an adult, but I was just so overcome with my anger last night. I realize now how stupid it was but at the time I was just looking for the next thing to throw. Thanks in advance. |

Re: RAGE..
After throwing a tantrum, I like to review my HH and ask myself:
1) Did I get my money in with the best? 2) Did I run into a monster? 3) Did I play the hand wrong? That usually cools me right down. |

How do I fix this? [/ QUOTE ] Drop down in limits until you learn and understand the game. Play penny games if you have to. This game isn't worth your health. You are incurring costs far beyond the beats you are taking by getting upset and damaging your environment, your body, and your mind. If you are upset, don't play. If you can't do this, then poker may not be for you. |

Find the reason why you were so upset. It could've been a bad day at work, relationship problems built up over time, or any number of things that contributed to your blowup. P.S. try ring games, when you go bust you can just reload. |

Re: RAGE..
You could try the Phil Helmuth line, "if it wasn't for luck I guess I'd win all these things."

Re: RAGE..
Thanks guys. I suppose I already knew the best answer which is "STFU and act like an adult." It's really embarrassing to be 31 years old and not able to control my emotions when things start to get kinda bad at the tables. Maybe I'll re-read The Zen of Poker.

Just do what you know is right and stop worrying about what anyone else thinks. If you would be embarassed alone on an island, then fix it. Otherwise don't just do something because other people think you should. Make sure you have your own reasons first. |
