Re: playing a hand out of the small blind
I'm not sure about the preflop complete, against this many opponents. But the pot is giving you good odds, even if your hand isn't very strong multiway, and you do have an ace.
Postflop looks good to me. |

Re: playing a hand out of the small blind
Grunching
Preflop - fold, your out of position for the rest of the rounds, and your hand is easily dominated Flop - I kinda like the check-raise idea, but I'd bet out simply because your hand is vunerable. You have a backdoor flush draw, and even if you made it, it wouldn't hold up. Your TPLK is also very vunerable, hence even more reason to bet out. Turn - I like the bet. The pot is small, a blank hit the board (baring 3, 5). River - I like the bet again. UTG seems passive and I wouldn't try the check-raise. |

Re: playing a hand out of the small blind
A5o is a pretty bad hand to complete from the small blind with several players in the pot. Many times when you flop top pair, you end up splitting to win half the pot. And those times you don't split, you're outkicked. And when you're the only one with a pair of aces, you don't get paid off very much. It's a very dangerous hand to play.

Postflop, however, your play was perfect. This is one of the times when looking to check/raise when there isn't an obvious bettor is a good idea. |

Not that I disagree with you entirely about the c/r attempt, but it would be better if the 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] was a 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], and/or at least one of the opponents still to act is agressive.
