Question about financial aid for college :(

"As of today, what is the student's (and his/her spouse's) total current balance of cash, savings, and checking accounts (question 43)? (Do not include student financial aid.):"

TECHNICALY, this is like... $20k. But after I buy a car, pay for insurance, and put away about $5k for taxes, it'll be more like $3k. Do they want me to be technical or put a realistic amount?

If they ask "as of today" put down the current amount in your accounts. If they ask about an average figure you normally keep give them that.

Answer whichever will give you the most aid. With that said, doesn't the school have someone you can ask questions like this?
