Default How Far to Take an Overpair?

William Hill 1/2
CO has posted 1 SB
Dealer has posted 1 BB

I have no idea why those're posted...
Everyone playing here is super tight, and weak preflop, but seems reasonably aggresive post. Very sure about the preflop read, but not postflop.

Hero is dealt K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] in MP3. UTG+1 Calls, Hero Raises, CO Reraises, Folds to UTG+1 who calls, Hero Caps, CO and UTG+1 call

Flop 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

well there's only a couple hands i can see villain "logically" doing this with:

A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]/K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] and Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] or a slowplayed QQ set. no reads on CO, i'd probably call his turn reraise and lead out the river on a non-[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] call a reraise. or play as you did and check/call the river.

These guys are playing so tightly preflop that I can't reasonably put him on even 66 preflop because of the reraise.
I'm thinking JJ+, AK, AKs as the range of hands he's on.

Why on earth would you assume he has a six?? You still need to call this down. You are behind QQ, AA but he might do this with a wider range of hands that you do beat.

Yeah, looking back on it, I think that river bet is pretty bad by myself.

why? I'm not convinced he doesn't have AQ or some other Q w/ a decent kicker. seems like a pretty good value bet, since he'd likely cap w/ a Q and a flush draw on the turn.

1) Combinatrix-wise, there's 1 AQ[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] combination, 1 AK[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 1 KK combination, 3 QQ combinations, and 6 AA combinations. So we're not really good against this range. enough to Value bet. This is assuming Villain won't do something dumb with AKo on the turn.

2) Villain seems to be getting tricky with a hand; combinations aside, most Villains would do this most often with a set, less often with AA, and much less often with AQs. So pushes us further towards the "we're beat" side of the spectrum IMO.

Obviously you're going to showdown with this hand, but I think I just call the turn raise and check-call the river.

What you need to realize is that you've told the whole world that you have an overpair. When villain raises you on the turn, he's either getting out of line with something like AQ or he has you beat. You're definitely good often enough to warrant calling down thanks to the overlay the pot is providing, but you're not going to be good often enough that I want to put in more bets and raises. Just show the hand down.
