freezing cold cards
I recently was playing the best poker of my life. But the last couple of days have just been brutal. Not so much the suckouts, I just cant pick up a hand, when I do someone has a slightly better hand, and I can't buy a pot (NLHE). I know dry spells like this happen in everyones game. My concern is that I'm going to Atlantic City this upcoming weekend and I want to be in the right frame of mind when I go. I like most people primarily play online and don't get to the B&M's that mush so when I do get a chance to go I want to be on my A game. So should I
a.) take a break for a couple of days and just not play till i got (1 week) b.) play through the cold cards and taking a chance at making my self feel worse about the trip c.) take a break and run a couple of games a day or two before the trip just to knock the rust off all thoughts appreciated |

Re: freezing cold cards
Allow the poker gods to beat you up as they see fit. Keep playing, maybe drop down in level till it's over, and have fun at AC.
edit: I play limit, not NL, so maybe my advice doesn't apply. |

maybe drop down in level till it's over [/ QUOTE ] Till it's over??? My girlfriend use to implement this strategy, except it was while playing slot machines. She'd put the minimum number of coins (1) in the machine when she thought the machine was running cold. I couldn't talk her out of it, nor could I talk her out of playing slots. Oh well. |

Until the bad run of cards is over. [/ QUOTE ] This makes no sense at all. Dont know what you should do, but make shaw you book adequate accomadation, i went on a B&M trip and didnt book a hotel room for the last night, thinking i would play through, but after 3 days of 93o i couldnt stand sitting at the table, there is nothing worst than having no where to sleep, no incentive to play and 12 hrs to kill on a sunday night at zero degrees outside |

Re: freezing cold cards
If you feel like you are not tilting right now, then play on until you have a winning session - even a very small win. Walk away a winner. Take a break. Go to B&M.
If you feel like you are tilting, take the break now, then follow the above advice in a few days. -ptmusic |

Re: freezing cold cards
take a break from playing - let your poker chi/karma (whatever you like) fill back up again. re-read your poker bibles instead and good luck in atlantic city!

Re: freezing cold cards
A few shots of tequilla and a $100 NL online game. Call yourself Lono and raise with cards that should not even be in the deck. Use the chat function to insert vulgar criticisms of others. When someone plays aces for a win say "nice suck out you imbecile!" Tell everyone you're on tilt and there to "exorcise the devil in this computer." Use the chat function to call out cards before they are turned up on the board. No matter what hits, type "YESSSS!!!!" and make a large bet. Get into an argument with one of the "experts," insisting that Q-3 suited is a monster compared with pocket cowboys. Dare him to a heads-up match for "pink slips" and tell the others that you know he's part of a cheating ring out of Hong Kong.
None of this will help your psyche but I would like to hear about it so I can include you in my book. Good luck. |
