Default 7th level thinking by my opponent (Low content)

He knew I knew he knew that I knew that he knew that I knew he knew I would fold to a preflop raise or a flop bet, and hence, the maximum value was extracted.

Party Poker 0.50/1 Hold'em (6 max, 3 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is BB with 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].
1 fold, SB completes, Hero checks.

Flop: (2 SB) 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)
SB checks, Hero checks.

Turn: (1 BB) 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets, SB calls.

River: (3 BB) J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players)
SB checks, Hero checks.

Final Pot: 3 BB

Results in white below:
Hero has 4h 5c (one pair, fours).
SB has Kd Kh (one pair, kings).
Outcome: SB wins 3 BB.

Owned.

I actually had someone do this to me almost exactly yesterday.

Except the c/r'ed the river which just pissed me off.

Bet the flop

You're right, I was only playing the .50/1 short games because I wasn't capable of playing strong poker and I knew it. All you need to do in these games is value bet and you'll win 6 bb/100, so I was avoiding marginal situations at all costs. Go beer and weed.
