Does Matusow have what it takes, psychologicaly, to win the WSOP ME?

He seems to go on tilt too easy.

That is like saying Raymer can win back to back because he is heavy because Brunson did it and he is heavy too.

No. That is saying "At least four times in the past, the ME has been won by a person known as someone who easily goes on tilt. Hence you cannot conclude that a person will not win the ME just because he is known to easily go on tilt."

I don't know if Matusow "has what it takes". I don't know that much about him, and I don't know excactly "what it takes" either. I'm just saying that his lack of emotional control is not enough of a reason to say that he can not win the main event. It is probably to his disadvantage, but I think there is still a clear possibility that he will win.

"What it takes" to win is a lot of short term luck. He's in position right now and needs less luck than many others, but luck is only observable in the past, so ask this question again in a couple of days and I will have an answer for you.

Now if you asked does he have what it takes to make it in tough high stakes cash games, I would say probably not. I have read too many first hand reports of him going on crazy monkey tilt and spewing chips to believe that he could survive a game where the players are good and not very suceptible to tilt.

That's not true. Being prone to tilt is a characteristic of their poker ability. Being heavy has nothing to do with their chances of winning (as long as their is good air conditioning).

There are too many variables in poker to say that player x can win because he has one trait that player y and z has and they both won.

The question is does Matusow have what it takes to win the big one?

The Buffalo Bills had a great team full of top talent yet they couldnt win a superbowl in how many attempts? Look at the player and team stats for those years.Quite impressive but they didnt have what it took to win.

Can Matusow get into "the zone"?
