Very passive 20/40
Same opponent as in the other hand.
Little background I have couple of times folded to one bet on flop after my preflop raise, but not against this opponent. He open raises again and I three bet Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Others fold and he calls. Flop 5 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] J [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] he bets and I call. Turn 7 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] I check-call River 9 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] And I check-call again. During the hand I tried to find good spots to raise without getting myself into more trouble, but couldent find any possible places. |

Re: Very passive 20/40
I raise the flop, let the hand play out from there. When you play it like you did, you unfortunately don't get any kind of idea where you're at in the hand. If you really want, you could donk the turn (spade draw that showed up) but I rarely do that.

Re: Very passive 20/40
I agree. I think you need to raise this flop and then that will give you a better idea of where you are. After that it will be easier to either get away from or push.

Re: Very passive 20/40
This hand is played perfectly IMO, you want one bet going in on each street, so as long as villain is betting you are calling. And for those who want to raise, do you really think the information you get is reliable and how will it benefit you as opposed to calling each street.

Re: Very passive 20/40
I'm assuming you got donkbet on the flop. While the flop raise is tempting, our opponent is usually drawing to 3-5 outs, with the occasional flushdraw thrown in.
We much prefer him to put 1 bet in on each street - no need to raise and let him fold his junk pair/unpaired hands, and get 3bet by his best hands. You charge a FD a bit more but you have position so you can bet if he checks, so no free cards. Long story short, I like the way you played it. Surf |
