Default Virgin hand post: Weak ace as steal

This is my first hand I've posted at 2+2, but don't be gentle.

I hate it when I am surprised and lose. I have played sequences like this in the past and won, but not this time... Maybe if I was rr on the flop or c/r on the turn...SB is TAA, BB is fish.

1) Any reason to doubt my flop raise? I like raising with top pair esp when I see people bet on just about anything...

2) Was the SB merely letting me bet the pot for him?

Party Poker 10/20 Hold'em (6 max, 6 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is Button with A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].
3 folds, Hero raises, SB / calls, BB / calls.

Flop: (6 SB) A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (3 players)
SB checks, BB bets, Hero raises, SB calls, BB calls.

Turn: (6 BB) J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 players)
SB checks, BB checks, Hero bets, SB calls, BB folds.

River: (8 BB) 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players)
SB checks, Hero checks.

Final Pot: 8 BB

SB has A-2 clubs, (2-pair) Hero has A-4 o/s

It's too hard to comment on the hand now, even though I'm not qualified at this level.

Bet the river.

If you don't know this, you shouldn't be playing 10/20.

SB has played his hand EXACTLY like a flush draw or ace. What the hell are you putting him on to make this an easy bet? A3 precisely?

Would you raise the flop or just call down? Or even fold?

I would play the hand just like Hero did, but EliteNinja is saying the river is an easy bet and I don't see why. That's all.

I think you played it fine. I would definitely bet that river against an unknown unless you had a great read on him or he was very passive. He will call you down with a worse hand a large portion of the time that I think it is +EV

I didn't bet because I thought I would only get called by better aces or hands that beat me.

BTW, (from earlier in the thread) why is it inappropriate to post results? That always puzzled me...

River is an easy bet, you will be called by a million bazillion hands that you are ahead of here.

It really skews bias to favor the optimal play with known hole cards~

and ya, I bet this river
